Entwine was originally assembled as a death metal band under name ‘Kaamos’ (‘Polar night’ in English) in Lahti, Finland in March 1995 by guitarist/vocalist Tom Mikkola, drummer Aksu Hanttu and bassist Teppo Taipale. In 1997 the band decided to change their musical style towards gothic metal and rhythm guitarist and vocalist Panu Willman was shortly after added to the band’s line-up. In December of the very same year, Entwine recorded their 1st demo, entitled “Divine Infinity” and later, got signed by the Finnish metal powerhouse Spinefarm Records. February 1998 saw keyboard player Riitta Heikkonen joining the band.

Entwine’s debut album “Treasures Within Hearts” was released in September of 1999. In April of 2000 both Willman and Taipale left the band, with the latter being replaced by Joni. Vocalist Mika Tauriainen was added to the band during the following month.

The band’s next album “Gone” dropped in April of 2001 and the ball really started rolling: the album was awarded “Album of the Month” in the German magazine Hammer and the single cut “New Dawn” entered the Finnish Single Charts Top Ten.

Jaani joined the band as a live session guitarist in late 2001, soon becoming a permanent band member. Early 2002 saw the band recording their 3rd outing, “Time of Despair”, which the band promoted by touring Europe with gothic metal behemoths Theatre of Tragedy and Norwegian label mates Ram-Zet.

In 2003 Entwine recorded their 4th album, “diEversity”, and released it in March 2004. The new album showed an evolution on their sound, abandoning some of the band’s gothic roots and opting for a heavier, more contemporary modern rock style.

Entwine released in August of 2005 a 5-track EP entitled “Sliver” and a year later, Entwine's 5th album “Fatal Design” followed, accompanied with an European tour with German goth rock band Zeraphine. After the tour in December, keyboard player Riitta Heikkonen announced her departure from the band.

Entwine's 6th studio album “Painstained”, produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Apocalyptica, Sentenced) was released late January, 2009 and a double compilation album ”Rough n' Stripped” spanning the entire Entwine back catalogue was released in June 2010.

From 2010 to 2012 Entwine gigged only sporadically, finally retreating on hiatus. Finally, in January 2014 Entwine announced that they had begun recording album number 7. To be released in early October of 2015, ”Chaotic Nation” sees re-energized Entwine return to form better than ever, presenting to us a rejuvenated, supercharged contemporary melodic metal group with 10 killer anthems!
